Reasons people consider
Emface
Emface is most often considered for early-to-moderate changes in facial firmness, support and definition. These are the concerns we see most often in consultation.
A less open, more tired-looking upper face — often the first area where people notice the early signs of reduced muscle support and skin firmness.
Reduced firmness in the periocular area can make the eyes appear smaller or more tired, even when nothing else about the face has changed.
A gradual loss of definition along the lower face is one of the most common reasons people start exploring non-surgical jawline treatments in their forties and fifties.
Submental laxity — the area between chin and neck — softens earlier than many people expect, often before any other lower-face changes are noticeable.
What Is Emface
HIFES stimulation contracts and tones the facial muscles to restore support from beneath. Synchronised radiofrequency heats the dermis to stimulate collagen and elastin production, improving skin firmness, thickness and texture. Each session is twenty minutes. No needles. No downtime.
Emface does not require any surgery to achieve its lift. A surgical face lift cuts the skin and repositions the underlying tissue. Emface does not cut. It achieves a lifting effect by strengthening the muscles that give the face its shape, and tightening the skin that sits above them — so the structure is supported from within rather than rearranged from above.

How Emface compares to other
non-surgical face lifts
At a glance — how the main non-surgical face-lift treatments differ in mechanism.

Treatments described as "non-surgical face lifts" use a range of mechanisms. Ultherapy uses micro-focused ultrasound to lift and tighten skin. Thermage uses radiofrequency to tighten and contour skin. Sofwave uses synchronous parallel-beam ultrasound to lift the brow, submentum and neck. Morpheus8 uses fractional radiofrequency microneedling to remodel collagen in the deeper layers of the skin.
Each works on the skin or underlying tissue — delivering energy to encourage tightening and collagen remodelling.
Emface is described by BTL as combining synchronised radiofrequency with HIFES® muscle stimulation. The radiofrequency targets the skin. The HIFES® stimulates selected facial muscles involved in lift and tone.
The distinction is one of mechanism. Most non-surgical face-lift treatments work on the skin envelope. Emface works on the skin envelope and directly stimulates muscle. Neither approach is inherently better — they're addressing the face at different layers.
Findings From
BTL Clinical Studies
Over 95% of patients reported feeling noticeably lifted, more confident, and satisfied with their appearance — without needles or downtime.
Facial wrinkle severity reduced by 37% on average, especially in the forehead and around the eyes, with smoother skin visible after only a few sessions.
Patients showed a 23% average lift in the brows and cheeks, reflecting improved support from underlying muscle and tissue layers.
Targeted HIFES stimulation increased muscle density by 30%, restoring youthful firmness and definition to sagging areas.
Collagen increased by 26% while elastin levels doubled, improving elasticity, tightness, and overall facial texture and resilience.
Clinical results vary. Treatment recommendations are always based on individual clinical assessment and suitability.
Safe for all skin tones
Most energy-based facial treatments use light or laser energy that targets pigment — which carries significant risks on darker skin tones, including burns, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and uneven results.
Emface works differently. HIFES — the technology that Emface uses — stimulates facial muscles directly, and the synchronised radiofrequency acts at a subdermal level. Melanin is not a target, which is why Emface is suitable across all six Fitzpatrick skin types.
Because Emface does not rely on melanin absorption, all six Fitzpatrick skin types are suitable for treatment — a distinction very few facial lifting technologies can claim.
Our patient community reflects the diversity of Bethnal Green and the broader East London area. Emface was chosen in part because it works equally well for everyone who walks through our door — without compromise.

Questions Answered
The most common questions patients ask about how Emface works, how it compares to alternatives, and what to expect from treatment.
How does Emface compare to a surgical facelift?
A surgical face lift cuts the skin and repositions the underlying tissue, and remains the gold standard for significant, lasting lifting — results typically last 10–15 years, and no non-surgical treatment can match that scale of change. Emface does not cut and is not a substitute. It works differently: strengthening the muscles that hold the face up and tightening the skin above them, so the structure is supported from within rather than rearranged from above. Patients choose Emface over surgery for five reasons:
- Cost. A full surgical facelift in London typically costs £10,000–£15,000. An Emface course at Victoria Park Clinic is £1,600–£2,500 depending on zones and session count.
- No downtime. A facelift requires 2–3 weeks off work and weeks more for swelling to settle. Emface has no downtime — patients return to normal activities immediately.
- No incisions or scarring. Emface is completely non-invasive. There are no scars, no sutures, no visible trace.
- No general anaesthetic risk. Surgery carries the risks of general anaesthetic and a hospital procedure. Emface is performed in the treatment room with nothing beyond applicator contact.
- Procedure duration. A facelift is a 3–4 hour operation with long aftercare. Each Emface session is 20 minutes, with the full course completed over 4 weeks.
Emface suits patients wanting natural, non-surgical improvement without committing to surgery — not patients seeking the scale of change only surgery delivers.
How is Emface different from anti-wrinkle injections?
Anti-wrinkle injections and Emface address different layers of facial ageing. Anti-wrinkle injections relax specific muscles to soften active expression lines — targeting the surface. Emface works on the layer beneath, using electromagnetic stimulation to tone and strengthen facial muscles, addressing the loss of structural support that underlies the visible signs of ageing.
Because they work on different layers, they complement each other rather than compete. Modern facial plans often combine both — anti-wrinkle injections to soften dynamic lines, Emface to restore muscular support and lift. This kind of combination is planned and sequenced at consultation to suit each patient's priorities.
When will I see Emface results and how long do they last?
Early changes in firmness and tone can sometimes be noticed within the first two sessions, but full results typically develop over 2–3 months after the four-session course completes. This is because Emface triggers a biological remodelling process — collagen and elastin are gradually rebuilt in the skin, while muscle density improves in the layers beneath. These changes take time to mature.
Peak results usually last around 12 months. To preserve the lift and structural support, maintenance sessions — typically one or two per year — are recommended.
Who is not suitable for Emface?
Emface is not suitable for people with pacemakers, implanted electronic devices, or metal implants in the treatment area. It is also not recommended during pregnancy, or for patients with certain skin conditions, recent facial surgery, or active infection in the treatment area. Suitability is always confirmed at consultation with Dr Shah, who will review full medical history before any treatment.
What does Emface feel like during treatment?
Most patients describe Emface as a series of firm muscle contractions paired with comfortable warmth — the result of synchronised radiofrequency and muscle-toning energy being delivered together. The muscle activation can feel unusual at first, a bit like an intensive facial workout, but it is not painful. Intensity is fully adjustable throughout the session, so treatment can be dialled up or down to suit your tolerance. With no needles and no downtime, many patients find the 20 minutes relaxing enough to close their eyes.
Can Emface be combined with other treatments?
Yes, and combinations are common because different treatments address different layers of facial ageing. Emface is frequently paired with Exion to combine muscle lift with skin tightening, with skin boosters such as Profhilo for deeper hydration, or with anti-wrinkle injections to soften dynamic lines while Emface builds the underlying muscular support. In the eye area, Emface is sometimes used alongside injectable treatments to complement the non-surgical lift.
Combinations are planned in the correct clinical order and spacing at consultation to ensure each treatment works optimally and the overall result is balanced.
